(1) This happened once! Host's wife handed out cards to determine on which table each player would begin (i.e. black = table A, red = table B). Some players inadvertantly replaced their cards back onto the “live” deck instead of returning to the wife. Ver innocent…however, we played for over an hour without knownig this blunder. To our amazing surprise, one player was dealt pocket 6's (both spades!!!!!). we then realized the deack was tampered.
What do you do at this time?

That's ugly. Hopefully no one was terribly bothered. Kinda funny too…maybe.
I think I would just stop and check the deck. If no one objects keep the game moving. Otherwise maybe a group decision on what to do about money involved. Oh…this sounds painful. I think money talks too. Big buy-in…requires tough rules and policies. Small buy-ins, people are more forgiving.
I guess it would depend on how far into the tourney you are. Has anyone left yet? Those kinds of details could sway your next move.
I would be curious to hear what you did though?

I would think you just play on, everyone had the same chances regardless of the extra card.
Just pull the card an continue would be my suggestion.

poor host!!
I host a tourney every thursday and so tight about everything. only £5 buy in and get 3 – 5 tables but never the less as soon as the first hand starts everybody goes into serious mode.

at my home game we use the live deck to determine the tables if someone wants to use a dead deck then use a differnt color or style then it would be discovered right away
