You are usually only dealt a royal flush (the best possible hand) in poker, once maybe twice in your life. I saw the twice in 2 weeks. One of the main reasons was because I was playing an enormous amount of poker and the second reason was because it was online poker.
In online poker you are playing at 3 or 4 times the number of hands per hour. If you are multi-tabling this number could be much higher. Doyle Brunson mentioned how it took him a life time to gain the poker experience he had. Now players are doing the same amount of poker in one year.
I was able to press the print screen button on my laptop to capture this image of one of my real money royal flush poker hands.
The Royal Flush – Best Hand in Poker
A straight flush is a poker hand which contains five cards in sequence, all of the same suit, such as Q♣ J♣ 10♣ 9♣ 8♣. Two such hands are compared by their highest card; since suits have no relative value, two otherwise identical straight flushes tie (so 10♣ 9♣ 8♣ 7♣ 6♣ ties with 10♥ 9♥ 8♥ 7♥ 6♥). Aces can play low in straights and straight flushes: 5♦ 4♦ 3♦ 2♦ A♦ is a 5-high straight flush, also known as a “steel wheel”.[2][3] An ace-high straight flush such as A♠ K♠ Q♠ J♠ 10♠ is known as a royal flush, and is the highest ranking standard poker hand.
There are 40 possible straight flushes, including the four Royal Flushes. The probability of being dealt one of them is 0.00154%.
